Metaling with Nature (Senior Collection) Ensemble 1

Selected for UNT's 2017 Artwear Fashion Show (Denton, TX)

These four ensembles express the unrealized beauty of natural metals found in the earth (versus manufactured). The high contrast of black and white with intense pops of color parallel the highly saturated formations that I have found. This color scheme made it perfect for spring time. Diagonal lines mimic the characteristic striations of such materials. The pleating was done by hand (my hands) and took 6-10 hours for each ensemble. The use of pleating and diamond patterns put this line on trend for the season.

Deep in Denim

Selected for UNT's 2017 Artwear Fashion Show (Denton, TX) and won the 1st Place Denim Award and Monetary Prize

This denim ensemble is designed for the young women’s market. This customer is someone who wishes to express herself in original embellishment and comfort. It is an outfit that allows for breathability and ease to put on. Once the romper was completely sewn, the garment was bleached in an ombre manner. The sleeves can be worn up or down by the use of sleeve tabs. The romper allows for a belt to adjust to the wearer’s waist through the belt loops. It features a ready-to-go chain necklace on the collar’s wings which simply snap off for care. The pin-tuck, high-low shorts with a side-slit create a functional, moveable outfit that can accommodate her in many situations. In congruence, the bag offers her functionality in every-day occasions or travel. This is achieved through an adjustable strap, multiple pockets, and its large size.

Basking in Barcelona

Walked in the 2016 Go Red Fashion Show (Denton, TX)

This ensemble is inspired by Barcelonian architecture. The city is characterized by intricate engravings, stained glass, and bright murals. The mixture of stone walls over-grown with vivid flowers and entangled vines inspired me in the use of structure, fabric texture and color. Layered pieces with the pin-tuck waistband and wrap around pockets add to the romper’s uniqueness. These rich, lively colors are taken from the Spanish flowers that adorn the outside of buildings. Using Adobe Photoshop, I created this floral pattern on the legging's fabric from scratch. It is a seamless repeat that I the had (outsourced) printed on a lightweight jersey.

Strappin' Strap Tank Top with Leggings

This pair of an exposed-back tank top and cropped leggings create a fun summer ensemble. The unique tank top uses intersecting, diagonal darts and stripe-printed fabric to create a beautiful shape that draws the eye around the body: a look that is flattering in the front and back. A detachable belt is used to create a waistline and emphasize the pleats that add volume to the hem. Pattern-matching is important to this garment. How the stripes travel across side seams and define edges of the garment are essential to the design. The ankle leggings are created minimally with only 4 seams and a cover-stitch for the hems.
